This offer helped Rogue Genius Games publisher Owen K.C. Stephens, who in February 2023 suffered a pulmonary embolism. Owen was a staff designer at Paizo Publishing (2014-2019), and worked as the Freeport and Fantasy AGE developer for Green Ronin. On 14 February Owen was hospitalized for a blood clot in his lung. His four-day hospital stay, plus a follow-up colonoscopy, revealed serious issues including colon cancer. Owen is enduring hardship with the same drive and determination that has guided his design career. Somehow, even shackled to an air concentrator, he remains effervescently creative: For his 152 Patreon supporters he continues to post game material, fiction, superhero and space opera concepts, and ideas unending.
In his Rogue Genius incarnation Owen publishes or distributes titles from several small companies including Fainting Goat, Everybody Games, Christina Stiles, and Run Amok. Run Amok’s Ron Lundeen, himself a former Pathfinder staff developer, says, “Owen has been a wonderful friend and mentor.
