In December 023 we presented the new Dragonbane and Year Zero Bundle featuring English-language RPGs from Free League Publishing, including the new Dragonbane game of magic, mirth, and mayhem, along with five Free League RPGs – Twilight: 2000, Vaesen, Forbidden Lands, Coriolis, and Mutant: Year Zero – that use the Year Zero Engine rules system also seen in ALIEN, Blade Runner, The Walking Dead, and Tales From the Loop.

Dragonbane reimagines Drakar och Demoner (1982) with modern rules for fast and furious magical adventure, presented in a beautifully illustrated full-color core set including two books, maps, cards, pregenerated characters, and more, funded in a gigantic August 2022 Kickstarter campaign. And Year Zero games play just as fast, giving you meaningful and decisive results in one die roll. Well suited for harsh, survival-focused settings, Year Zero games are often deadly, and player characters are rarely safe from danger no matter how experienced they are. The YZE system is player-focused, story-driven, and adaptable. See this August 2021 Reddit r/rpg discussion, “Sell me on/off the Year Zero engine games.”

This Dragonbane and Year Zero Bundle showed off both Dragonbane and the whole range of Year Zero experiences. There were four complete Year Zero RPGs in our Starter Collection (retail value $88) as DRM-free .PDF ebooks, including Vaesen – Nordic Horror Roleplaying; the Forbidden Lands Core Game; Coriolis: The Third Horizon Core Book; and the one that started it all, Mutant Year Zero: Roleplaying at the End of Days.

Those who paid more than the threshold (average) price also got our entire Bonus Collection with four more games and supplements worth an additional $87, including the Dragonbane Core Set (plus the free Dragonbane Quickstart Guide); the Twilight: 2000 Core Set; Vaesen: Mythic Britain & Ireland; and Coriolis: Atlas Compendium.

Four of these titles appeared in previous Bundle of Holding offers: Mutant: Year Zero in July 2018, Coriolis and Atlas Compendium in November 2018, and Forbidden Lands in January 2021. The four titles new to the Bundle of Holding had a combined retail value of $102.

Ten percent of each payment (after gateway fees) went to this Year Zero offer’s designated charity, Direct Relief. Direct Relief sends protective gear and critical care medications to health workers, with emergency deliveries to medical facilities across the US and to regional response agencies across the world.
