In July 2025 we presented the all-new Battlezoo Bundle featuring the Battlezoo line of Fifth Edition monsters and monster hunters from Roll for Combat. Battlezoo compiles winning designs from the annual RPG Superstar competition. These sourcebooks also present a detailed system for harvesting parts from slain monsters and crafting them as custom weapons, armor, shields, magic items, and more. Battlezoo inspired Roll for Combat’s world of Alacar, seen in the Indigo Isles setting. And the companion Ancestries line brings high-power monster abilities to your character sheet.

In the introduction to the first Bestiary, Stephen Glicker, co-host with Mark Seifter of the Roll for Combat podcast, described the origin of the Battlezoo line: “I always enjoyed participating in Paizo’s annual RPG Superstar contests. Seeing Pathfinder Second Edition fans from around the world contending for the chance to have their name published in an official sourcebook – it’s just a wonderful thing. So, like many fans, I was crushed when in 2016 the contest was canceled for the indefinite future. […] In late 2019, with the Roll For Combat podcast well established, I finally decided it was time to approach Paizo and pitch my idea: What if I ran the contest instead? After a few quick meetings, they gave me the green light, and RPG Superstar 2020 was born!” An astute marketer (he used to run a digital media agency, SuperNova), Stephen attracted hundreds of entrants and recruited a panel of judges. An October 2021 Kickstarter campaign funded the first Bestiary, a profusely illustrated full-color 182-page collection of the winning entries. Since then Roll for Combat has run seven Kickstarters funding Battlezoo supplements for 5E and Pathfinder, and the Battlezoo Secret Tomes for Shadowdark campaign launches soon.

In June 2025 Roll for Combat made news in the gaming hobby when Stephen Glicker posted a video: “They Went Bankrupt and Now I’m Screwed.” After Diamond Comic Distributors filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in January, Diamond’s creditors seized the distributor’s unsold stock. The brazen move endangers many comics and game publishers, including Roll for Combat. This all-new Battlezoo Bundle let players use every part of the monster, and maybe even become monsters themselves, while helping the publisher navigate the path ahead.

There were three complete 5E sourcebooks in our Battlezoo Bestiaries collection (retail value $90) as DRM-free .PDF ebooks, including Battlezoo Bestiary, Bestiary: Strange and Unusual, and Battlezoo Ancestries: Dragons.

Those who paid more than the threshold (average) price also got both titles in our Indigo Isles Tour (additional retail value $100): the location sourcebook World of Battlezoo: Indigo Isles and the complete 430-page adventure path Jewel of the Indigo Isles, which takes your 5E characters from level 1 to 11.

Note: Roll for Combat also publishes Pathfinder-compatible versions of these sourcebooks. All the titles in this offer supported D&D 5E, not Pathfinder.
