In August 2025 we resurrected two offers of digital graphic albums featuring Studio Foglio’s Girl Genius, the “gaslamp fantasy” webcomic of adventure, romance, and mad science. The revived October 2020 Girl Genius Bundle had the First Journey of heroine Agatha Heterodyne, and its May 2023 companion, creatively titled Girl Genius 2, launches Agatha on her Second Journey. Together these offers presented more than 2,700 pages of fast, funny scientific-romance comics filled with Sparks, smoke, gears, Clanks, and talking cats, all for an unbeatable bargain price.

(Note: Like all Bundle of Holding offers, these titles were downloadable digital files, not physical albums.)

Created by Phil and Kaja Foglio (What’s New With Phil & Dixie? and many more), Girl Genius debuted as a quarterly comic book in 2000, then became a successful thrice-weekly webcomic in 2005. The series has garnered a Munchkin Steampunk expansion, a Cheapass Games card game, licensed merchandise, a thriving Patreon campaign, and a standalone GURPS RPG and sourcebook.

These revivals helped Studio Foglio as it soldiers through the hard times that have beset comics, games, and small companies across the spectrum. “Things have been going well for a long time, but recently we’ve had a lot of nasty and expensive surprises,” Phil Foglio wrote on his July 17 GoFundMe page, Help the Foglios Through Unexpected Challenges. “What happened? A number of unexpected medical expenses, a flooded basement, and an expensive legal fight to get our novel rights back. Diamond Comics, our main distributor who got our books into actual stores, went bankrupt and is no longer ordering anything from us. Our convention sales have changed drastically in recent years, we suspect because people would rather buy books online than carry them around a crowded con. Who can blame them? All that drama and more has slowed down our traditional ‘one book a year’ release schedule, and our income along with it. We thought we could weather that slowdown, but we were wrong.” The Foglios still run their Patreon campaign and their TopatoCo merchandise page.
