Through Wednesday, June 17 we present the Kobolds Ate My Baby Bundle featuring Kobolds Ate My Baby!, the cult-classic FRPG of anti-dungeon-crawl silliness, in its 2024 Orange Book edition from 9th Level Games. One of the oldest “beer-and-pretzels” casual RPGs, Kobolds Ate My Baby! makes you an inept kobold leaving your dungeon to raid nearby villages in search of food for King Torg. (All hail King Torg!) Cheerily march to your death upon the beaks of chickens, or under a falling cow, or by a Flaming Meteor Strike or The Big Red God’s Big Red Bolt of Orthodox Lightning. If you’re really lucky, you may survive to bring a tasty treat to King Torg (All hail King Torg!) and avoid becoming lunch yourself.
Funded in a January 2023 BackerKit campaign, and lavishly illustrated in full color (well, mostly orange) by John Kovalic (Munchkin, Dork Tower), the new KAMB! Orange Edition uses a dirt-simple adaptation of the Polymorph toolkit seen in Mazes Fantasy Roleplayiing, Rebel Scum, the Awesome World all-ages series, and other less silly (or, anyway, less orange) RPGs. These one-shot adventures, vibrant with pop-culture parody and loud, chaotic improv, play like a blend of Dungeons & Dragons, the Smurfs, and Wile E. Coyote. Being cannon fodder is fun!
KAMB! Orange Edition adapts 9th Level’s Polymorph rules system to the Kobold experience, making it even more fun to die horribly. Each player only ever uses a specific polyhedral die (d4, d6, d8, or d10). Each die represents a different “way to play” or a different role in the group. Basically, your ROLE is your ROLL. Whenever you want to do something, you roll your die; a quick glance at the Resolver on your character sheet tells if you succeed. There is never math involved. Sometimes you may roll with advantage or disadvantage, but the Mayor (gamemaster) never rolls dice.
KAMB! Orange Edition character creation is just three questions: “What’s in your LEFT PAW? What’s in your WRONG PAW? What JOB do you have”? Death Checks and damage are handled as a single system. The character sheet has everything you need to play, including THE KOBOLD HORRIBLE DEATH RECORD. John Kovalic (Munchkin, Dork Tower) illustrates the rulebook and all the adventures. Also there are treats!
This new KAMB! Bundle gives you the latest Orange Book edition of this long-lasting RPG along with 11 recent adventures and play aids – everything you need to serve the Chicken Bone Throne throughout your short, eventful life. Pay just US$7.95 to get all five titles in our Rules Collection (retail value $45) as DRM-free .PDF ebooks, including the complete KAMB! Orange Book along with the We Iz Kobolds quickstart, the Print ‘N’ Slay Miniatures, and the Coloring Book, plus the introductory adventure Are You My Kobold?.
And if you pay more than the threshold (average) price, which is set at $19.95 to start, you’ll level up and also get our entire Adventure Collection with ten more adventures worth an additional $84 that are (like Kobolds) quick, frivolous, and short: The Big Bar Near the Village of Two, Dungeonesque!, How to Kill Kobolds, Kobolds’ Adventures in Wonderville, Orange is the New Orange, The Orangest Show on Earth, Star Kobolds, Torg-a-Pa-Looza!, The Wonderful Wizard of Frogs, and the orange version of Swedish grimdarkness, Smörkås Borg.
[Note: We presented the 2013 Kobolds Ate My Baby! In Colour rulebook in the April 2015 Bundle of Laughs. This new offer presents the 2024 Orange Book.]
This KAMB offer ends Wednesday, June ALL HAIL KING TORG!
