In February 2022 we thawed out two past offers featuring Hellfrost, the epic FRPG campaign set in a frozen land where winter threatens the world. Created by prolific designer Paul “Wiggy” Wade-Williams and published by Triple Ace Games, Hellfrost is one of the most admired and popular settings created for Pinnacle Entertainment’s Savage Worlds. Embark on legendary endeavors in this forbidding yet singularly atmospheric high-power wasteland. We started with the revived September 2015 Hellfrost Essentials Bundle and then expanded our horizons with its January 2018 companion offer, Hellfrost Atlas.
The land of Rassilon endures the blighting effects of the centuries-long Blizzard War against the northern frost giants, dragons, and hordes of ice goblins. Much of the land is permanently covered in ice and snow, and even the temperate lands south of the Icewall suffer failed harvests and the dreaded Hellfrost wind. Winter is not the only danger: Just 30 years ago magic, once the civilized races’ most potent weapon, suddenly began to fail. The Siphoning, an effect of unknown origin, has made magic an unpredictable ally.
1. HELLFROST ESSENTIALS [from Sept 2015]
The revived September 2015 Hellfrost Essentials offer had everything you need to start your own epic fantasy campaign in Rassilon. There were five titles in this revived offer’s Starter Collection (retail value $50) as DRM-free .PDF ebooks:
- Hellfrost Player’s Guide: The ideal introduction to the world of Rassilon and its many menaces. Includes the free Savage Worlds (Explorer Edition) Test Drive rules.
- Matters of Faith: Two dozen major cults, 70 minor cults, and over 90 major festivals, plus a tour of Godsheim, realm of the gods.
- Arcane Lore: Druidic pacts, the Magocracy’s famed schools of heahwisardry, elementalists, lost dwarven runes, song mages, and more.
- Heroes & Villains Compendium: Dozens of Novice-level characters fully described for nonplayer encounters or as ready-made player heroes.
- Organization Guide: The military, political, and mercantile powers that exert continent-wide influence.
Those who paid more than this revival’s threshold (average) price also got this offer’s entire Bonus Collection with six more titles worth an additional $87, including the Hellfrost Bestiary and Creature Guide, the Gazetteer, Encounters Book 1, and Legendary Endeavors, with rules for creating super-powerful relics and weaving their legends.
2. HELLFROST ATLAS [Jan 2018]
This revived January 2018 Hellfrost Atlas Bundle expanded the algid landscape of Rassilon with the fabulous Atlas of the Frozen North and other titles funded in Triple Ace’s July 2014 Kickstarter campaign. The Starter Collection (retail value $50) included the Adventure Codex — a massive 554-page compendium of two dozen scenarios for heroes of all levels — along with five Hellfrost City Books, in-depth guides including City Book 1: Cities of the Freelands, 2: Cities of Magic, 3: Cities of the Crystalflow, 4: Cities of Royalty, and 5: Freetown, City of Crime.
This offer’s Bonus Collection added four more titles worth an additional $78, including the spectacular full-color 386-page Atlas of the Frozen North; its companion book of color Map Sheets; Hellfrost Resource Management, which lets you build a legend to last millennia; and the Hellfrost Action Deck, 54 playing cards with full-color artwork and rune effects to enhance your Savage Worlds play sessions.
Ten percent of each payment (after gateway fees) went to these two Hellfrost revivals’ pandemic-related charity, Direct Relief. Direct Relief sends protective gear and critical care medications to health workers, with emergency deliveries to medical facilities across the US and to regional response agencies across the world.

Actually it doesn’t. You still need to acquire the base Savage Worlds rules, either the previous edition (Explorer’s) or apparently the newer one (Adventure) will work.
Fair point! I failed to mention the Hellfrost Essentials Starter Collection includes the free introductory Savage Worlds Test Drive rules (Explorer Edition), so a newcomer to Savage Worlds can at least make sense of the stat blocks.
